Annual Chopsticks & Wine Benefit for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce to be held Thursday, October 18 at the Hawaii Convention Center

Foodies and wine lovers are invited to enjoy an evening of fabulous food, wine and music to benefit the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce at its 11th annual event called Chopsticks & Wine featuring “Wine…And All That Jazz.” On Thursday, October 18, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Held at the Hawaii Convention Center, is one of Hawaii’s signature foodie events will feature the culinary delights of over a dozen of Hawaii’s most respected chefs and the wines to go with it.

Participating restaurants include Alan Wong’s Honolulu, Beachhouse at the Moana, d.k.

McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii Employee Wins McDonald's National Employee Scholarship

Michal "Mahea" Combs, an employee of McDonald's of Mililani Mauka, has been awarded a prestigious McDonald's National Employee Scholarship. Combs is one of 51 McDonald's restaurants employees nationwide - one from each state and the District of Columbia - to receive the $2,500 honor for their outstanding employee qualities, scholastic achievements and community involvement.

"This scholarship is just one of the many benefits I've received from working at McDonald's," said Combs. "Having a flexible schedule and understanding managers makes McDonald's a great place to work while also attending school full-time."

Combs, who joined the McDonald's restaurant team in November 2011, is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and plans to attend the University of Hawaii this fall as a business major. In high school, Combs was recognized for her artistic ability in sculpture and painting.

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I – Honolulu’s finest will be taking tips to another level for Special Olympics Hawai‘i’s 22nd annual Tip a Cop event on Thursday and Friday, August 16 -17, 2012. From 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. each night at participating Ward Centers restaurants, local diners will have the opportunity to experience one-of-a-kind service as volunteer law enforcement officers deliver dishes, refill glasses and bus tables for a good cause. Hawaii's food truck and and street food rally is coming to Mililani.

Eat the Street will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Recreation Center 7 located at 95-1333 Lehiwa Drive.

The family-friendly event will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
